Back in November, Huggins & Scott had the distinct honor to present the first Jerry Garcia single-signed electric guitar ever to reach a major auction house—and it sold for over $10,000. Now we are proud to offer the next best alternative: the first Jerry Garcia single-signed acoustic guitar ever to reach a major auction house! This is the second and final Garcia guitar in Larry Magid's world-class autograph collection. Its large, radiant turquoise signature contrasts beautifully with the guitar body's golden hue and would rate "10" were it not for small areas of visible wear to the "rry" in "Jerry."
As to Garcia's unplugged legacy, a 2017 feature article in Acoustic Guitar magazine gave this spot-on summary: "The lengthy, imaginative improvised excursions that Jerry Garcia called forth on his electric guitar inspired legions of devoted fans to hit the road with the Grateful Dead during the band’s heyday. While dissertations could be written on this work, Garcia’s acoustic side warrants equal consideration. A highly personal take on all sounds Americana, Garcia’s acoustic guitar can be heard on Grateful Dead songs like 'Uncle John’s Band' and 'Ripple' as well as in Garcia’s music outside the Dead with musicians like the mandolin virtuoso David Grisman."
This item has a reserve. Estimated value ($5,000-$10,000).
